Today the children became performance poets. We were very impressed by the expression and actions that the children used.
This week we will be beginning a new topic in English, narrative poetry. We will be reading a variety of narrative poems, poems that tell a story, and at the end of the week, we will look at writing a short story which we can then turn into a narrative poem.
In Maths, we will be practising our multiplication knowledge and applying our knowledge to answer real life questions, especially money problems.
More children in year 4 got their bronze reading award last week and a number are very near to the 50 reads required. Please keep reading every night with your child and write in their planner that you have heard your child read.
Finally, Miss Hillidge will be in on Monday to teach the children more amazing science. Please have a look at the blog posts of all the things we did last week. Hope to see you all bright and early on Monday morning, Mr Bradley.
Today, year 4 had their class assembly. We performed a play that took one of our children back to Victorian times where they tried to live for a day without electricity. Then year 4 read out some of their research about electrical items that we have around our world. Well done year 4 for all your effort and a wonderful production.
Year 4 had some very special visitors today. Mr and Mrs Bradley came to answer questions about their amazing world travel.
The children had some excellent questions, for example: Do you think you will ever stop travelling? What is your favourite country? What is the most dangerous place you have visited? What is the most amazing thing you have ever seen? What souvenirs do you have?
Their answers will be written up as newspaper articles at the end of the week.
This week we will be continuing our newspaper topic in English. We will be writing questions to ask to some visitors who will be visiting our class. We will then be writing up the visit as our final newspaper article.
In Maths, we will be practising our subtraction knowledge and applying our knowledge to answer real life questions, especially money problems.
More children in year 4 got their bronze reading award last week and many more are very near to the 50 reads required. Please keep reading every night with your child and write in their planner that you have heard your child read.
Finally, Tuesday is our class assembly (9am). The children have been practising really hard and I hope, if you make it, you will enjoy a very unique performance. Hope to see you on Tuesday, Mr Bradley.
We visited the Life Bus this afternoon. There was a body model that showed the inside of a human body. The children were very knowledgable about how the body works. The children also found out some facts about drinking and smoking and how we can keep our bodies healthy.
